My Morning Prayer

Lord, I ask that you command my day and my time. Prioritize all my assignments and give me wisdom in all things that I do.  I pray that I have the mind of Christ to accomplish the work that you have assigned to me. I pray that my eyes see what you would have them to see; my ears hear what you would have them to hear; my mouth speak what you would have me to speak; my feet walk the path that you would have them to walk.  I pray that every assignment you assign to me will be complete to your glory. I pray that you orchestrate every moment of my day and I thank you that you are the redeemer of time. I thank you for exchanging my anxiety for your peace, my confusion for your clarity, and my fears for your faith. I thank you that you are the lord of my life that you are all knowing- all powerful and that you are everywhere. You knew before I knew me and you know the plans that you have for me. I thank you for guiding me in walking out every plan that you have for me. I thank you that the favor of God is upon my life and that the blessings of God chase me down and over take me.  I thank you for every promise you have and that you will fulfill each one.  I thank you that you love me even when I did not love me and that you said that I am the apple of your eye, and that you have my name engraved in your hand. I thank you for your angels of protection and your angels of war that protect me and war on my behalf, even when I am not aware. I thank you for your constant protection, your constant guidance, and for the relationship, I have with you. I thank you for loving me and allowing me to love you.  I thank you that in spite of my faults you call me worthy. Thank you for every dream and vision you have given me.  Thank you for everyone that you will give. Thank you for guiding my hands to complete the works that you have for your kingdom. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for the legacy that will build your kingdom. Thank you for my children and their purpose, and thank you for life, health, and strength.

Curious thought-

When looking for a mate- what are the important qualities you look for and why?

What is important to you?

What are your nonnegotiable?

How important is faith?

Is celibacy before marriage an issue?

If so, why? If not, why?

What is considered to old and what is considered to young?

How important are goals and dreams and should your dreams and goals line up together?

Love

God has really been ministering to me about love. I love my morning time with God. Sitting in my room before everyone starts stirring or my quiet time on my morning commute, I love the candid revelations and conversations that I have with the Father. This morning I was meditating on ”The Love chapter” and what Love truly means. I know we have all heard it repeatedly, “Love is a Verb it is an action.” Yesterday, I shared about letting God into your heart and I talked about the relationship with my biological father. I had to be willing to show love by just loving him where he is at this moment and accepting where he is.

This morning while I was reading the Love chapter, I reflected more on love. I questioned if I am showing love to everyone, regardless of the situation. I must be honest; I need to work more on the unconditional love of God. I am a softhearted individual and I am easily hurt although I try to appear to be tough and I can get in my feelings sometimes. I did not realize my bluntness hurts people. I do not want to be known as an insensitive person that does not care about others or their feelings. I really do care and my caring can sometimes come across very harsh especially when I am trying to convey that I want the best for the person I am talking with. I have tried to become more aware and clarify what I say and what I mean and not use the excuse of “this is just how I am”. There is a saying, “When you know better, you do better”. That is what our daily walk with God is all about, knowing better and doing better.

I want to look at the Love chapter. I am fond of the NLT and the MSG. This will likely come in multiple devotionals because as I study the scriptures, so much more is being revealed.

1 Corinthians 13 New Living Translation (NLT)

Love Is the Greatest ( Love is the highest, the Supreme, the Paramount, Overriding)

13 If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but did not love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. Have you ever seen a marching band? Think of the cymbals and how loud they are, the clashing sound. Think of a baby when they are banging dishes together. There is nothing melodic or soothing about the sound of a cymbal. It is a very loud and irritating sound. The bible states that if you do not love, no matter how eloquent you speak it does not matter, because of the way it received.

The bible states, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13 NLT. We are called to be the salt of the earth. Not sandpaper. Sand paper leaves others raw and wounded. Salt is healing. I looked at some of the various uses of Salt and this is what I found:

•Salt is used to clean and disinfects- Leviticus 16:30b states “Then, before the LORD, you will be clean from all your sins.”
•Salt is used to restore- Psalms 80:3 “Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved. NIV Psalms 80:3”
•Salt is used to deodorize or freshen- 2 Corinthians 2:15 “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”
•Salt is a stain remover- Psalms 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
•Salt extinguish fires- Ephesians 6:16 “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
•Salt is used to kill snails, weeds, and bugs- Mark 4:8- Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”
•Salt is a preserver-Thanks Bishop Ken.

Looking at these examples of salt, and reflecting on the scripture that says we are salt, and meditating on Love as action, it makes me really stop and think of my interactions with others. I think of how I want to do better and I want to please God. How I must die to my flesh, be mindful of my actions, my words, and my tones. I do not want my witness to destroyed, or God’s name to be shamed because of my actions. Not only do I want to show forth love, but also I want to be love, the very essence of love, God’s example of love. My desire is for God to be pleased with me in thought, action, and in deed. I want to be a restorer, not a destroyer.

Lord, I ask that you continue to work on me and make me a conduit for your purposes. I desire to be salt and not sandpaper, that I show forth love and not be a clashing cymbal. That people see you when they see me. I thank you in advance that I am becoming the woman that represents you and your glory to everyone that I come in contact with and those that see me from afar. I thank you that you are the true example of Love.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Favor

I would like to  share with you how God revealed to me who I am.  I was lead to the scripture “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.” Proverbs 18:22 NLT

In my thoughts I was having a conversation with God saying, OK but I am not married (YET! Lol), so explain this to me. I love that I can be so candid with him and he can be so real with me.

As I was asking for clarification, I could hear God say, “”Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” (Jeremiah 1:5) and also, “I (also) know the plans I have for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) because of that, you were a wife, before you were a babe in your mom’s womb. The reason why favor follows you, and  the reason why people that come in contact with you have favor, is because you are a wife. They receive my favor because they are in relationship with you and they are receiving the overflow of what I give you. You walk in what I called you to be in

the spirit, even though it may not be in the natural. You are my wife first (The church IS the bride of Christ).  Continue to walk in it, because you are Favor.

I have to say, I could not do anything but sit and soak in the words that were spoken to my spirit. It is awesome when you truley start realizing who GOD says you are, not what it looks like, or seems to be, nor what others say, but what GOD says to you. Your creator. I will continue to carry myself as a wife because that is who I am.  So, in case you did not know, let me introduce myself.

My name is Favor.

Have a great day.

Come as you are!

I was sitting and thinking about a debate I have seen regarding  Erica Campbell of  Mary Mary and the outfit she wore on her album cover and Megan Good and the way she dresses as a Pastor’s wife.  I have often heard that they are justified in their attire because the bible says come as you are. This made me think, where in the Bible does it state Come as you are? I did not see a scripture that states that you come as you are, however there are scriptures that imply come as you are.

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

Matt 16:24. Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Even though the scriptures suggest that you come to Jesus as you are, what many fail to see is that when you come, there is also a purification that takes place. You are to come and be purified and cleaned.  Think of a baby when born, they have come through. Even after birth, they are washed and wiped clean. What happened to the Mothers of the church that taught our young ladies how to dress and carry themselves as young ladies? The Father’s that taught our young men how to be young men and be respectful of the ladies and themselves?

It seems that  everyone is looking for an excuse to do what they want to do and justify their choices. The bible says that we are to be in the world but not of the world, that we are to be separate and apart, the salt of the Earth. Looking at the world now, it is becoming hard to identify Christians from the sinners and vice versa.

To come as you are, simply means to come the way that you are but learn, grow and change. Conform your mind into to the mind of Christ and become a new creature in him. There is a change that comes when you are in relationship with God. The Holy Spirit comes along side of us teach and guide us in all things, even how to dress. It is often said that once you know better, you do better.

So, are the outfits appropriate? It is not for me to judge, but this is what I will say, when you are  professing God as  the head of your life you have the choice to decide what type of  example you want to set.  Would you wear a mini skirt to work, would you wear your breast out to work, or outfits that, although they may be cute, they look painted on you?  I am not saying you have to wear  outdated clothes or clothes that do not compliment you. God made us in his image and he said that everything he made was good. I am saying to be tasteful, tactful, and mindful.

What these women do when they are with their husbands is one thing, but I do believe that we are all mentors in someone’s life, whether we ask for the assignment or not. Someone is looking at us and how we carry ourselves as Christians and we are held at a higher standard. Sometimes, we truly are the only witness for Christ that people will see or come in contact with, so we have to be aware of our dress, our attitudes, and our mannerisms.  We can either draw people to Christ or push them away.  Just remember, the next time someone says God says, Come as you are, that is true; however it is to be cleaned and purified so that you may light on the hill in a dark world. We are called to best apart. Let your inner light shine forth.

Be  blessed.

Faith Check

There are some things that  I have been praying to God about and I would like to share the answer that he gave me.

I have found myself asking God  over and over that if Jesus said in John 14:12  “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father” NLT,  then why is this not manifesting today? Why is it not more prevelant?

I was at church when I recieved my answer was walking from one building to the next.answer.  It was really simple.  If you notice, the scripture says ANYONE who BELIEVES. That is the key. I believe but I don’t believe. Let me explain, the scripture that came to mind was when the disciples where in the ship  WITH  Jesus, they had been walking with him and seen the signs and wonders with their own eyes, however, at the smallest wave of the  sea, or a little rise in the wind, instead of tapping into their faith and remembering the miracles they have seen,  they allowed fear enter into their thoughts.  Jesus rebuked them and said,  “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.”  Matthew 8:6 NLT

The next scripture that God spoke to me was, “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”Matthew 17:20 NLT

I was immediately convicted.  Jesus said, “Oh ye of LITTLE Faith” and then said “have faith , but then said have faith the size of a mustard feed. ” Then my rebuke.  Look at the attached picture of  a mustard seed.

So when I have faith this size vs the fear that seems so much larger in my mind, then the signgs, wonders,a nd miracles will come as well as every other promise God has for me.

I thought about the Father in Mark 9:24 that said, “I beiieve, but help my unbelief”.

Lord, forgive me for allowing my fear to be larger than my Faith. I pray for the mustard seed faith to fulfill your promises and purpose.

Let God into your situation

In my quiet time, I have been thinking about several different things that I have been dealing with in my life as it relates to love. I ponder if we really know what love looks like and feel like. This is something I am learning more and more, that is learning to love the way God loves us, with true agape love. I say that I love; however, do I really show forth Christ’s love in my daily walk as a Christian?  To be a Christian means that we are striving daily to be like Christ.  That makes sense being that we were made in the image of the Father. So why do we love with conditions? Many different answers come to mind. For instance, “I am human”, “I want to protect myself and not allow my guard down”, or things like past hurts, pain, mistrust, and so many other reasons.

Agape love,  often translated “unconditional love”, is one of the Koine Greek words translated into English as “love”, one which became particularly appropriated in Christian theology as the love of God or Christ for humankind. In the New Testament, it refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of one’s fellow man. (Wikepedia)  What does God’s love look like to me? Well, this morning I was thinking about the scripture in Revelations 3: 19-21 that says “19 those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.…”

Think of the patience of God standing knocking at the door of my heart saying if you just let me in, I will sit with you.  I love you so much that I am going to stand here (not sit, and not take a break like we would do, not  give up on you) knock until you decide you will let me into your heart  and when you let me in, I will sit with you and eat with you the very  bread of life.  Yes, I love and I will discipline you, but it is because I love you that I discipline you. I will not turn my back on you, no matter what you do or say, I am here, waiting on you.  When I think of me, the sinful person I was and am, and how he loves me in spite of my flaws, this was enough to bring tears to my eyes.  The Almighty thinks enough of me that he would stand and continue to knock on my heart waiting on me to let him in to sit and eat with me, in my mess that is so powerful to me. NO matter what I have done, or will do, he is there for me and he loves me unconditionally. How can I really fathom what unconditional is when I don’t love me unconditionally?

Let me explain what unconditional is to me. If you have ever seen the Passion of the Christ, think of scene where Jesus was being flogged and the crucifixion scene.  Think of all the mockery and the abuse that Jesus went through, not for himself, but for you and me. Think of the skin ripped from his body, no, there was not a pain reliever given to him, he experienced every single hit. Then as they nailed him to the cross, raised that cross up, and they gambled over his clothes and mocked him as the blood was falling down his face. What were the words that Jesus said? “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34. That is LOVE! That is what Love looks like. NO matter what our sister or brother does, no matter what sin they are dealing with, no matter how much it hurts us, we pray for them and don’t turn our back on them and still say, Father, this is my sister or brother, they are hurting and separated from you. I love them enough to pray for them and cover them, no matter what others say about them, no matter what they do. They are hurting and I love them enough to show forth YOUR AGAPE LOVE unconditionally.

We do not have to agree with them but we can love them and not turn our backs on them, judge them, or push them away. I have been learning this very lesson myself, and I am still learning it. My biological father has been in and out of my life for my 40 years of living. As a little girl growing up, like most little girls, I adored him and just wanted to be with him and in his presence.  Because of his life choices, our relationship was not the best.  This affected me in so many ways growing up and caused some hurt within me. September of this year was my first time seeing him in 12 years and I can say I did not know what to expect.

Is our relationship where it should be? Yes, because we are at a place where God can do what he needs and wants to do in both of our lives. He gets the glory out of whatever transpires, not us. I had to be willing to forgive him and love him where he is. God is working on our relationship.  He is seeking to understand the hurts that I experienced and the voids that were (left) because of his choices. We are coming together because of God however; we have to be willing do the work also. We both had to open the door of our hearts and allow God to come in and minister to us where we were. That is the beauty of God in, He does not judge, He just comes into the situation and do what He does best, cleanse, restores, heals, and rebuilds.

Am I protective of my heart? Absolutely, the bible says to guard your heart, but my guarding is different now. I ask the Holy Spirit to guard my heart and build this relationship to what He wants it to be. See, the thing is this, the very love I show him is a testimony to the God I serve.  How can you love God and not love your sister or brother? That is bible, 1 John 4:20.  I can now tell him that I love him and mean it because God is doing the healing. He is in the midst of this situation. I encourage you to think about people that have hurt you, people that you have separated from, or you love with condition and pray about it. God is standing at your door knocking and waiting for you to let him in to that very situation. You never know, you may be the very person that draws them to God.
